Welcome to Melissa Ifill LCSW Counseling LLC. Please read the following Terms and Conditions (“Agreement”) carefully. By registering for, purchasing, or participating in any services—whether virtual or in-person—including but not limited to individual therapy sessions or psychoeducational workshops (collectively, the “Services”) offered by Melissa Ifill and Melissa Ifill LCSW Counseling LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”), you (“you,” “client,” or “participant”) agree to be bound by the following terms.
Melissa Ifill is a licensed clinical social worker in the states of Georgia, New York, and Florida. Services under this entity may include: Psychotherapy provided to clients within licensed jurisdictions, Psychoeducational workshops and seminars open to the general public. Workshops offered under this business are educational in nature and do not establish a therapeutic relationship. Participation in workshops or informational sessions does not substitute for psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment, or medical care. You are responsible for seeking appropriate mental health or medical treatment as needed. A therapeutic relationship is only established following a formal intake process and signed informed consent for psychotherapy.
2. Eligibility and Clinical Scope
Individual therapy services are available to clients located within the states in which Melissa Ifill is licensed to practice. Clients must complete required intake documentation and assessment prior to beginning therapy. Workshops may be open to broader audiences and may prioritize the emotional safety and cultural experiences of Black women. In such cases, attendance may be limited to those who identify as part of the African diaspora. Workshop eligibility will be clearly stated in the event description.
Services provided—whether therapy or educational—may involve discussion of sensitive topics, including trauma, grief, and identity. By engaging in these Services, you acknowledge that: You may experience emotional discomfort as part of your participation; You remain responsible for your personal well-being during and after Services; You will seek additional support or crisis care if your needs exceed the scope of the service. If you are in crisis or experiencing a psychiatric emergency, you agree to call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Melissa Ifill LCSW Counseling LLC does not provide 24-hour crisis services.
4. Confidentiality
Information shared in therapy sessions is protected under state and federal confidentiality laws, including HIPAA, and will not be disclosed without your written consent except as required by law. Exceptions include: If there is reason to believe you are a danger to yourself or others; If there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult; If a court issues a subpoena or legal mandate for records. For group workshops that are not therapeutic groups, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed, although participants will be asked to agree to group norms around respect and privacy.
5. Fees, Payments, and Refunds
All fees for therapy services and workshops are clearly stated prior to registration. By submitting payment, you agree to the following terms:
All purchases are non-refundable. This includes workshop registration fees, consultation sessions, and therapy appointments not canceled within the required notice period. Clients receiving therapy must provide 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule appointments. Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged the full session fee. Payment is required at the time of booking or as outlined in your client agreement.
In cases of financial hardship, you may inquire about reduced fee options or sliding scale availability, subject to availability.
6. Health and Safety
You represent that you are physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of participating in Services. If you have medical or psychiatric conditions that may impact your participation, please disclose this as part of your intake or registration process so appropriate accommodations may be discussed.
We reserve the right to deny participation or request documentation if we believe your safety, or the safety of others, may be compromised.
All materials provided by Melissa Ifill LCSW Counseling LLC—including handouts, slides, recordings, and digital content—are protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or share materials without express written permission.
Unauthorized use of these materials may result in legal action and/or removal from the Service.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Melissa Ifill LCSW Counseling LLC, its owner, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from your use of or participation in the Services.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Melissa Ifill LCSW Counseling LLC from any claims arising from your participation, including but not limited to emotional distress, use of materials, or misapplication of advice or content.
9. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Georgia and applicable federal law. Any disputes will be first attempted to be resolved through informal discussion. If a resolution cannot be reached, parties agree to submit to mediation in Fulton County, Georgia before seeking arbitration or legal proceedings.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Updated terms will be posted on our website and become effective immediately. Continued use of our Services after updates constitutes your agreement to the revised terms.
